Grippers novice run 24-03-13

46 Lanes.

Approximately 90 miles.

Approximately 7 hours.

We arranged to meet up at Brixton garage for 09:00 and it was cold to say the least, two members of the group Ian & Beckie were new laning with only a few hours experience on the lanes so this was to be their first full day ridding.

Also in the group was Shaun who is an experienced rider but has had a few month off since some pikey scum had stolen his wr250, the insurance had paid out and he was now sporting a 61 plate Husqvarna (sorry if I've offended any Pikey's).

Introductions over we'er ready to go and the Husky refuses to start, Shaun was tempted to go home again but took my advice and bought himself a pack of jump leads, we hooked his bike up to his van and the Husky spring's in to life.

We set off and did 202-193, 194, 195, 196 two of our regular riders took on devils steps whilst I took the rest of the group the easy way around.

We then did 202-179, 171, 180, 173, 174, 198, 184, 182, 309, 160, 164, 428, 310 back down 310 and in to 165, 298, 166 on 202-167 Shaun had a big off and broke the poor Husky, I still cant work out how or what he did exactly as the lane is smoother than tarmac but what ever happened he ended up in the bank with bits of white plastic everywhere.

Fortunately the only injury he sustained was dented pride so I led him to the nearest garage (via 202-199, 200, 201) where he arranged to be picked up, we took the opportunity to fuel the bikes and have a spot of lunch before setting off for the Dartmouth ferry.

We then did 202-202, 203, back along 203 and 202 followed by 202-169, 153, 152, 134, 139, 160, 309, 198, 174, 173, 180, 171 and 202-179 where we said our good bye's, again two regular riders of our group descended down devils steps whilst the rest of us used 202-178 to get on to the main road.

All in all, apart from the temperature it was another cracking ride with great company, both of the beginners did very well indeed and we look forward to them ridding with us again soon.

There were plenty of laughs and plenty of badgers throughout the day and I feel certain their will be some video footage to follow shortly.

Also big thanks to camera man Jon for the cracking photos of the day.

I bet it's snow joke for you lads now Minty, considering we're now into April, hahaha

Yes well spotted, some of those lanes you did run last year, however on this run we dropped down further south instead of carrying on east like we did with you lads, we also had a couple of beginners on this run so I kept the route tame and yes, the old DT is still going strong, think she's only needed a new set of rings so far, what a trooper that little bike is.
