Well we all met at Chaddlewood garage for 08:30 and ready to leave for 09:00 as we had a 100 mile round trip ahead of us, we started with 202-157 as the first lane of the day and I soon found myself up to my bearings in mud (great start to the day)
After all had laughed, taken photos and got past me a couple of the others came to my rescue and helped me out of this sticky situation.
We were soon on our way again and heading towards 202-158, 159, I decided to skip past woohoo today in order to make a decent time, so after a bit of road work we were on to a very washed out 202-120 followed by 202-338, 085, 076, 041, 042 we then covered 191-096, 086, 084, 083 at which point stumpy got another puncture (what a let down, he was so deflated, his attitude was flat even though he was under no pressure), we soon got him up and running again with the use of slime and some CO2 capsules, we then traveled another 300 yards to a burger van to have an early lunch.
We soon set off for 191-068, 069 with a lovely ford crossing, 075 and then on to Bovey garage for some fuel.
Then after winding Jon up about suicidal Simms (his first time on Simms ) we made haste for 191-091, 101, 089, everyone (apart from Dan the main man with the van) cleaned Simms due to the unexpected extra traction from the debris left over from the Exeter trial the day before, we then used 191-087, back up 089 which was total carnage for all except the first 3 or 4 of the group, once we had re-grouped, it was then on to 191-101 and 103.
The next lane I had planned was 202-007, I was aware of the deep water in this lane but unfortunately as I found out the hard way, it was too deep and abruptly ended the run, for me it was a van ride home, huge thanks to Dan the man with the van, who went all the way to Plymouth from Buckfastleigh got his van then came all the way back for me, top bloke , I thought Geoffs account in another thread of what happened in this lane was spot on so as long as he doesn't object, I'll use it here.
Geoff's account.
Justin's route was approx. 100 miles and 60 miles in and at approx 15:00 we approach the western end of 202-007. I'm about third in the group and follow Justin and rider No.2 through the first two puddles, each one getting deeper. Justin enters the third puddle and gets about 20 feet in then he's literally up to the tank, rear No.Plate touching the water! Engine killed he admits defeat and eventually manages to push it out. We spend the next 30 odd minutes taking the plug out and clearing the water from the engine. Put back together it sounded like it was going to fire off the button so we don our kit, do a 180 in the lane and head out the way we came in. Well, we did, Justin didn't! It wouldn't go so we then bled the carb to remove any remaining water, still no good. We push the bike out of the lane to meet the rest of our gang and two 4x4's waiting for us to clear the lane. We then spend the next hour or so trying to start the bike. Battery now dead a few people have a go at kicking it over. Having removed the nut off the bottom of the bowl this revealed fine debris and water. Back together and it fired a few times but when attempting to blip the throttle it just dies. We're all thinking a jet is probably blocked with some fine grit. We decide we'd tow the bike to the A38 where Justin would ring for someone to collect him. This didn't go so well either with Shaun trying to bump the bike whilst being towed which resulted in him binning it on the A383 almost as soon as we hit that main road. Not the best scenario with fast flowing traffic, Ooopps So, I then push him along via the footpeg as far as the Halfway Inn, my groin muscle was shot by this point. We all admit defeat and leave Justin and Dave in the carpark. One of the other riders was going to head back to Plymouth, pick up his van then return to collect the guys. They made it home fine.
Well it wasn't exactly how I expected to finish the the day and all seemed to be having a good time until that point, apologies for the epic ride home along the A38, next time I come across a large puddle on one of my run's I'll go with my gut instinct and send my depth gauge (James) in first.
I feel certain the others will have photos and vids to follow shortly.

just to put my few vids and words of wisdom in, i took over charlies job for the day(tec and recovery helper for the few that had problems), tail end dave making sure everyone found there way.
first lane justin just wanted to copy james from the christmas run, and that wasnt a 2 smoker in front giving off the smoke screen, it was a ktm 450 with to much oil in.
(they are better in HD but you can change that quality on youtube.)
next one i did stop as stumpy go on the wrong side of the ravine and i was worried he was gonna fall in and not be able to get back out.
next a slippy little downhill rocky one, with stumpy going looking for badgers in the hedge.
few more on dartmoor, nice little lane up to the top. (sorry for the water on the lense)
there are lots more but the one you all want to see is dans little badger on sims.
i was ready for him to come round and do it again but no so.( he cheated)
.
i had a cracking day and even saved fuel on the way home when i got a lift with dan and justin.
Great days riding chaps. Nice to meet some new faces too. Look forward to riding with you all again soon (after I've resolved my little back light and starter button electrical gremlins)
