Well what a cracking day, it was a real pleasure showing Minty and co around some of Devon's finest.
78 lanes, 8 1/2 hours, 2 punctures, lots of badgers, plenty of horses and more 4x4's than you could shake a stick at.
We started at 08:30, meeting at the hideaway cafe for pre-trail ridding breakfast, just as we're about to get stuck in, the local Law enforcement rolled up in a van & car, as it turned out they were just ordering their gut buster breakfast's and not at all interested in hassling a bunch of trail riders.
We soon set off, fueled up at Brixton and then headed for our first few lanes, 202-193, 202-194, 202-195, 202-196.
It was then time for Devils steps, Charlie and I took the ride around so we could capture the unfolding events on film, there were a couple of small badgers, lots of mares and one katoom going skyward, we let some of the lads catch their breath before setting off again, 202-178, 202-179, 202-171, 202-172, 202-180 at this point James and Shaun picked up a flat each one in the front and one in the rear, they managed to limp up to Wheeldon via 202-173 & 202-174 where we set about repairing both flats, after copious amounts of slime, CO2 and patches we decided to fit new inner tubes in both.
about 1 hour 30 mins later and we're off again to 202-198, the lane of pain was a big hit with everyone, no issues with 202-161, we bumped in to another large TRF group near the end of 202-160 where my Katoom didnt want to stop on the loose surface and I ended up practically laying down in the hedge in front of their run leader (John, I think he was called).
The river crossing at Bow bridge was a big hit, unfortunately no swimmers this time, the fun was soon over and we did 202-295 before stopping in Totnes for fuel before setting off to 202-118, 202-322, 202-113, 202-111, 202-110, Tally Ho was unforgiving today as most had trouble getting to the top (Including myself), well done to those that made it (Git's).
202-324, 202-101, 202-091, 202-079, 202-080, was nothing but muddy wet fun, at the end of 202-081 we met John's group again.
No issues on 202-069 & 202-060.
Rocombe hill and Slippery Sam were entertaining but all made it, we then did 202-346, 202-035, 202-036, 202-037, 202-340, 202-023, 202-329, 202-022, 202-388, 202-019, 202-343, 202-017 with no problems, on 202-018 we met a 4x4 with a trailer so we kindly turned around to allow him to pass, we then did 202-018, 202-012, 202-013, 202-028, then it was time to start heading home.
we did 202-060, 202-433, 202-069, 202-081, 202-080, 202-079 about half way along 202-091 we bumped into a group of 4x4 green laner's so we decided to turn around again to allow them to get through the lane, we then did 202-101, 202-324 before decending down Tally Ho, again no issue's.
202-110, 202-111, 202-113, 202-322, 202-118 went smoothly before stopping at totnes for some fuel and late lunch.
202-295 was fine, we couldnt use 202-160 as the farmer was bringing in his cows, so we turned around and used tarmac roads to get to 202-198 followed by 202-174, we got stopped on 202-173 whilst another farmer brought in his cows, while we were waiting the group burst into laughter as the farmers dog urinated on my rear wheel, he then turned around and did the same to Shauns bike (Guess he didnt like KTM's).
Finally we were alowed through and we went on to 202-180, about half way along 202-171 we met another 4x4, we all pulled into a passing point and alowed him through before finishing this lane, no problems on 202-179, 202-306, 202-196 until 202-195 when one of the Welsh lads had a cracking little badger, no problems on 202-194, 202-193.
We said our goodbye's, cleaned our plates and took our guests back to the places they were staying.
Thanks again to all that helped today run smoothly and thanks to all for your fantastic company, can't wait until next time.
