Hello all, I'm Geoff and I live in Totnes. I have a bus pass but don't qualify for a state pension yet! I've been riding bikes for a long time though I don't consider myself a 'biker' as I don't ride hard enough to be a seriously good rider. I had a 600 Transalp for 20 years and now have a Kawasaki W650 for road use. I had a Transalp 700 for the last couple of years but as I'm getting older I feel I want to slow down a bit and smell the flowers. The 700 Tranny has now gone and an XT250 Serow is on the way. Lurking on some trailie websites made me think I might enjoy a bit of gentle green-laning. I found you guys as being reasonably local, though not sure that what you get up to could be described as gentle! Beating yourself round head and shoulders with nettles and the odd tree looks fun though. A long period of poor health (plus riding round on comfy bikes) has left me unfit and overweight, but hoping to remedy that and ease into a new hobby if I can find someone to treat me gently. Any thoughts on suitability of the 250 Serow for green-laning, it seems popular in the US? I chose it as I wanted a lower saddle, knowing me I'd stall on a ridge with a rut on either side. Anyway that's enough waffle for a first post, don't want to set the yawns going, hope I'll get the chance to meet some of you in the not too distant future. Cheers.
