Bloody amazing day, I was there aswell............watching of course! Now i'm stood on my soap box- amazing event but shame to see after the race the expert recovery people with "Weston Beach Race Recovery" plastered over their vehicles wrecking peoples bikes. I witnessed 2 guys stood holding their un-rideable bikes due to the back wheel being wrenched along the swing arm. One who's chain was so tight there was no play at all, another the chain was broken (didn't see the output shaft from the gearbox) then it was obvious and I saw how this was done as I was walking back to the car: 1. Find a tired worn out rider with bike stuck in the sand. 2. Ask if he wants recovering. 3. When you start to tie the tow rope round the center of his bars and he starts to comment you tell him to F....Off and threaten you will go and pull someone else out and leave him and bike there. 4. Put rope round tow hitch of 4x4 with plenty of slack in it. 5. Drive as fast as you can till the forks are on the stops. 6. When as the bike refuses its rapid extraction from the wet sand, you guessed it the rope snaps and everyone starts swearing.
NOT the way to treat other peoples kit NOT how I would like to be aided at the end of the race NOT encouraging to potential competitors
