Are any of you going to venture up to Kingsteignton (Nr Newton Abbot) this Sunday evening and have a go riding this fabulous track?
We get use of it after a days racing - from 5pm to 8:30pm. Track is absolutely fabulous and for those who did it a year or more ago you may be interested to know its been modified this year and they now run it clockwise. Only road registered bikes and being run through TRF so it gives you the chance to go completely at your own pace without any loons jumping over or on you.
Myself, Ben, Geoff, ThundercatSteve and another mate will all be heading up there.
I'll be there. Went last year, and again a few weeks ago.
As Wheely said, you can do your own thing at your own pace. Scare yourself whitless if you like, or just plod round and get a bit of air on the table top.( I WONT be doing that)
Thoroughly recommended, not ofter you will get the chance to ride a track like this without being surrounded by axe murderers on MX bikes.
Would truly love to come to this, have been trying for years! When I could have gone it got rained off.
Any one going from the Tavistock area with trailer, van etc? too far to ride
Chris
You wanna pester Mike to go if he's around - he'd love it I know. Then after you've convinced him, blag a lift in his van.
I would have tsaken ya but my trailer is full of WRs and Geoffs orange thing. And I know ThundercatSteve is van-ing up with a mate. So sorry we cant help.
Glad you guys got something sorted. Be good to see both of you.
Yes the final part of the drive after you go through the back of Kingsteignton is single track. What has meant to be arranged is the race leavers should be re-directed through the bottom of the course so dont end up going down the same road as your coming up. However it only takes one to jump the boat and this results in bedlum (especially when 2 big vans meet). Hopefully it will be organised ok.
I'm going to try and get there closer to 4. It will mean I shouldnt meet anyone exiting and also may give me a little time to observe how it should be done when I watch the final race(s). We're also not going to drive all the way there (as my car is low and special to me, so dont want to drag it down there) - so we'll park up somewhere closeish and ride the rest.
As far as routes ( only know the 1, can't really issue directions as I kind of follow my nose when I get there). Once you go through Kingsteignton there's normally those MX orange marker flags to guide you in.
Thanks for all the info, useful stuff. I know Fred met someone coming the wrong way, he had a trailer the other guy had a behemoth - Fred had to reverse.
Mike I will let you decide what time you want to leave.
There should be no entrance cost - but it will cost you £10 to ride your bike on the track. Bikes should be road registered/legal and as its a moto-x track you can have an aggressive rear nobbly if you wish (I only have MT43, which will have its downfall if its more than lightly damp). TRFmembership card is not necessarily required (there's no trf concession for this one). Think providing we make use of it, the burger van (from the days racing) will hang around for a bit. So use it or loose it.
Good the see Chris and Mike there, think Tim was around somewhere too.
68 riders signed in for the evening but never more than 2/3 out on the track at any one time, more often a lot less. Nice long track and plenty of passing places so never under any real threat from faster/slower riders.
I was well chuffed as went out after a few warm-up laps and did >25miles out there in one session!! Although after I stopped I was rather fooooked.
