Best Pickup?

Thinking of changing our 4x4 and trailer for a pickup (L200, Navara?) Any advice would be welcome....will two trail bikes go on the back (with tailgate down?)

You can only get two bikes on the back if it's a single cab...only 2 seats!

The Toyota is best as proven by Top Gear but the Mazda would be a good second. Unfortunately the Toyota's are like hen's teeth to find! confuse

Nissan Navara up to '05 maybe later had a problem with big ends/conrod failure at about 80k. A google search will confirm this, a pity because they are most common and so cheapish. My vote would be forToyota HiLux. A friend has a Ford Ranger and says it only does 20mpg.disbelief

HiLux gets my vote. But then I'm slightly biased. I've not treated it as roughly as Clarkson and co, but its been reliable so far.

If you have anything other than a single cab it will be too short. You'll get one on at an angle, but definately no room for a second.

I've got (but not for long) an L200 which can carry three bikes. I made a frame up that sits in the front and holds the bikes. The rear wheels site on the tailgate threshold without a problem.
L200 has been good until last week when the engine cried enough with 150k on the clock, a blessed relief to be honest as it has cost me £200 a week in fuel so far this year.
Cheers Rob
