Nice one Gra. I think I'll be bringing my boots into the house from the garage to try and dry them out before this Sat otherwise I'll be starting with wet feet. Well, not so wet with my new waterproof socks. For those who don't know: SealSkinz type socks from 'Goulds' on Ebrington street in Plymouth. Ex-services. £9.99. Mid calf length. Worked particularly well on Sat I must say. On removing them my normal socks underneath were only very slightly damp in some patches and I can assure you that without the waterproof oversocks they would have been wringing wet! Good investment for a tenner I think.
That's a terrific price for the Seal Skin socks! The going rate in the outdoors shops (if you can get them) is around £30 a pair!!!! I'll be visiting Goulds pronto on my return. Thanks for this one Geoff.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Terry, but its ex services Seal Skin type sock, and you can get em in Marcus in Bristol for a fiver a pair. Bit of a treck, I know, and a tenner is still a good price.
They do, however, work perfectly. The only bit of waterproof kit that always stays waterproof, no matter what. Jackets, gloves, trousers , they all leak eventually, if you stay out in enough rain for long enough. But the socks still amaze me - long day out in wetter than wet conditions, and you feet are dry as dust. Brilliant!!!
I bet that hairdryer bootdryer makes the old leccy meter spin a bit! How long does it take to get them dry?

Same socks are £5.50 at Bogey Nights, Plymouth. Tried and tested last weekend and work perfectly, they are the same mid calf length and are far posher than the waitrose shoping bags I used previously
