Whipples Lane - Ermington Parish decision!

At the extra ordinary meeting of the Ermington Parish Council tonight, the Council was unanimous in it's decision NOT to TRO the lane!

This will immediately seem like we were the victors however their reasoning was as follows...
A TRO would not stop the illegal MX boys from using the lane
The way this South Hams Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) proposal has been set in motion was not in accordance to any wishes of the Ermington Council and therefore they felt they should NOT support it. They feel there is a hidden agenda and there is more going on in the background than I'm privy to.
They feel that whatever the erosion of the lane they could get it repaired by South Area Highways.

This obviously upset Mr Harker - he who lives at Whipples - and he stormed out of the meeting when the unanimous vote was cast.

The Downside of this decision will be discussed at tomorrow nights meeting at The Rock. Please be there if you can.

A cautious 'well done' to you Andy.  It's on the agenda for tomorrow. Bob.

I would suspect that this may well be the lull before the storm!
Having never been to such a meeting prior to the initial hearing, I felt vastly unprepared.
Now that there is some experience to draw from I feel we can improve upon our approaches, responses and general impressions made upon council members and others with insular viewpoints

Whatever the eventual outcome, we should give a vote of thanks to the Ermington Parish Council for presiding over a very fair hearing and for having the courage to stand against a local influential land owner who thinks he can ride roughshod over the local authorities!
