Having recently insured my bike for the 1st time since buying it back in Feb(!) I took it out for a short ride this evening (on the road) as my names down for my 1st Green Lane experience this coming Wed PM 8th July (Novice ride out from Plymouth with one of the Devon TRF members). However, it seems my rear shock has collapsed! DOH!!!!
I read on the Fische Disc the previous owner gave me as part of the sale of the bike that they are re-buildable AND that he had receipts for oil etc... indicating that he had recently re-built/serviced it himself (obviously didn't do a very good job!?). I am mechanically minded so this is probably not beyond my capabilities given time but time is my enemy so can anyone offer any hints / tips or should I plump for buying a new / second-hand item? (Merlin (TVTR) is scrapping a 2003 KLX which he's said in the past to me 'most bits will fit my bike')
I look forward to your responses Thanks in advance Geoff
you can get shock parts from off road only http://www.oro2u.com/ i rebuilt a few of my own some times its the balloon that has gone in the small tank give them a shout mine went on my kx250
Andy, Justin now has my shock (delivered to his home in Saltash tonight) and he said he'll have it done - all being well - by Mon/Tue, Result! You were right in what you said about him!
I will however give Merlin a ring re. the one off his 2003 KLX.
Fingers crossed I will get to pop my Green Lane Cherry on Wed night.
