Twas a wet and windy day at Geralds today, incredibly slippery on the mud clad hills, everywhere else was fine, the chicken run now ridden in reverse is as mean and steep as ever, i love it
I rode for two hours before calling it a day, great to ride with such skill full riders, i didn't get there names but, one young lad on a RM 125/250 2 stroke was absolutely blindingly fast, what a rider. I learnt a few tricks of this lad, i'll let him know if i see him again.
The worst part at Geralds is the Whoops, i can not for the life of me hit em like these other guys were, they were flat out with the front skipping of the top of the whoops and literally flying! where as i am going up and down at snails pace lol still have loads to learn even after decades of ridding, great
Looking forward to the next session already, hope to see a few more club members there too.
Kev and I turned up in the pouring rain and to much sucking in of air through the teeth of the quad boys and "It'll be difficult for the bikes down there today boy" we decided to pay our tenners and give it a go. In the dry it is hard enough but after torrential rain this was just crazy. After sliding down the near vertical slopes on the rear trial tyres we got to the bottom and then on the other side of the stream and up the other side only to make made it halfway up on the slippery mud. So back down to the bottom to find a new way up, found a old path with a bit of vegetation on it and made it to the top.
It was kinda this point that I though we had better make an effort to get back to the starting point. The way back up was fortunately a good mix of mud stone and roots but was still quite a challenge. We were nearly at the top when I ran out of momentum and dumped the bike and unfortunately Kev had to stop behind me. It was so steep at this point that we had to go down the hill and start again. Fortunately on the second attempt we both made it.
We met Adam and Rob at the top who then went down for a spin while Kev and I watched. They shortly arrived back at the top via various routes. Adam was grinning from ear to ear and was eager to keep going, The rest of thought that we had had enough. Maybe on dry day but this was no pleasure manhandling a wet slippery muddy bike up this terrain.
Kev, Rob and I went off to find some lanes and put in a few before finishing around Grenofen.
This was a bit too far out of my comfort zone on this wet day.
Well done to Adam I hope you made it round safely today.
Rob, Kev and yourself are skill full riders so i was surprised and a bit sad to see you guys go hope you come back there again and give it a try some other time.
I won't take the p*** and call you all a bunch of fannies
Everyone who rode there fell off LOL including me, i flew up the steep chicken run, got air and hit the right hand bank, then a guy who was on my ass rode right over my front forks/wheel, cheeky git! was funny though
I really love riding that circuit, especially in the dry when everyone really starts getting on pace and racing each other, there wasn't much racing today, just surviving.
Well that confirms it Chris...after seeing you drink a small red wine when the MEN were drinking pints I thought that you might be a bit of a fanny. Did you ask Gerald for a refund if you only rode one lap? Bob.
Way too sloshy to get any fun out of it. All that for a tenner. We need our own webcam installed and remote weather station that we can log into to determine whether it will be a fun day or not before setting out.
Must be the first time I have motored the wrong way up a track, but needs must.
No he dont give refunds if you only get 1 lap in, as I found out when I first got the 525 and I couldn't bearly sit on it let alone manage more than 1 lap! in the brambles, in the nettles, in the stream, in to the sky, through the gorse bushes but fortunatly I can say NOT in to the trees!!!
Have been back since so it wasn't really that bad, but wasn't in the mood for excessive wear and tear on the body so only got 6 or 7 laps in!
the track looks good may be i should have put on the new tire as mine has lack of tread lol, anyways i did have a close look at the grass on the way home good job it was wet and soft .saved a good day chris thanks for leading us bud see you all soon
