H + H - come and have a go if you think you're hard enough!!!!

Think you're getting the hang of that green laning thing? Come and give this a go - sorts the men from the , er, old men?

WOR Events are running the 4th round of their GB Cross Country series at Preston Combe, near Moreleigh. Its a venue that Wheeldon have used for their H and H in the past, I did my fist proper event there in 2007 ( actually second, but the first one was 7 miles round the outside of flat fields on a dairy farm in wiltshire, so it doesnt count). Expect woods, bogs, open fields, up hills and downhills. Two separate races, 2 hours in the morning for the vets, sportsmen, novice and kids, then 2.5 hours in the afternoon for the experts and clubmen. So if you're of a nervous disposition you wont be out on track with the really quick boys - although some of the young uns will be flying, no doubt!!!
If you've never raced before this would be a good place to start. The first time you line up with 150 other bikes is something to be experienced - nothing quite like the anticipation when it all goes quiet before the dead engine start!!!!

Click here for all you need to know.

(Apparently there is no national or european race that weekend, rumour is that some top enduro stars may well turn up to race. No names, cos I wouldnt want to be accused of gossiping un necessarily, but the name I heard was the biggest there is. )

WOR do good events from what i hear smile i am going to give one a go some day.

I know what you mean about the dead engine stars, when all the bikes are on the line and warming up the atmosphere is electric, the noise, the smell of two stroke oil, it is off road heaven, then all of a sudden silence as they cut there engines, you could hear a pin drop............ the flag waves and its game on, awesome biggrin

I'm in the veterans ,although it doesnt make alot of difference - I'm not going to win, and we all ride the same track at the same time. The only thing is it looks like the vets get to go first, so we get a clear run at the first lap. What usually happens is a massive log jam forms at the first tricky bit, and the first lap can be a bit of a struggle. This way they all get stuck behind me!

I would join you, but it clashes with a sidecar enduro in Wales where as you know, the bogs are deep!!     w00t.gif

Ooh sidecar enduro, my fiance wants to give that a go.

Does anyone know if there are ever any 'taster' days?
