Jeff, Are you sure that you've used the correct passwords etc?. I've just tried to get on too, but I've never been able to commit my passwords to memory so I'm not surprised, I couldn't
I am a little concerned that terms and conditions are being put in place and applied that are not in the original terms and conditions as available to read on this site. Have I missed something??
Ross, I'm not absolutely sure what you mean. My understanding was that all TVTR members needed to be TRF members ( any County group). How can we ensure this is upheld unless there is a system to check? I can only say what happened with Devon group last year. Steve, the secretary, did give reminders but I believe that he 'cut people off' who hadn't renewed round about March. This year National have a new membership secretary, Debbie, who gave the laggards 30 days after receiving the latest 'Trail' magazine otherwise their records would be deleted.
They better send me a sticker for £40 or i'll stamp really hard. And i still can't get on the members area That may be because i haven't tried tonight though.
When the original 13 members started the TVTR in late August the overriding principle was to increase the number of members of the TRF. Therefore we said that to be a member of the TVTR you had to be a member of the TRF. An allowance was made for the two TVTR members that were not TRF Members. Those members joined the TRF at the end of '08 and so no allowance is made - every TVTR member has to be a TVTR member. Ergo, if you're not a TRF member nor are you a TVTR member.
I excluded all TVTR members from the Members Area on the 1st Feb until they proved that they were TRF members for '09. So far 17 TVTR members have quite happily sent me proof that they are TRF members for '09.
A couple of members have said that they will bring their '09 TRF membership card to the meeting on Thursday.

The response fails to answer my concerns, it only repeats the content of previous correspondence stating one has to be a member of the TRF to be a member of the TVTR. My concern is with the dictatorial way the rule is being implemented. I don't recall any rules about exclusion from the members site if fixer does not receive proof of TRF membership and on the agenda for the next meeting is "expulsion from the TVTR of non TRF members-when" as if muscles are being flexed or the group is ready for some blood letting as a lesson to others. I personally feel the use of words such as exclusion and expulsion fail to serve the group well and would prefer a more concidered and democratic approach as after all we are a group of like minded motorcyclists, allegedly.
I suggest you turn up for the meeting and air your grievances then Ross.
The agenda item is for us to vote on not cast in stone. If you feel that we shouldn't expel a TVTR member because they haven't joined the TRF for '09 then you can have your say.
The reason I'm asking for proof of TRF membership is because I put a lot of time and effort into running the website and all but three items on the Members Area were generated by me. I'm not prepared to let a non-TRF person have access to the Members Area and so I asked for proof.
So far 20 people out of the 28 members have forwarded a copy of either their letter, card or Paypal e-mail and I have had no complaints. How would you police the policy that you must be a TRF member to be a member of the TVTR?
I think Thursday's meeting may be a good time to discuss where the group is going and whether we're all happy about it?

By the by....I never ask anybody to do anything I'm not willing to do myself. To that end I've put a photo of my TRF membership card on the Members Area for all TVTR members to inspect. Of course, you'll need to have sent me proof that you are an '09 TRF member to access the page.

Yes I am pleased that this has been sorted, it shows the strenght of this group being able to resolve things amicably and can only be good for the groups future.
