The Gruesome twosome day out at the ...........

Sonny and I decided that we should get some practice in with our Satnavs to hone our finenono navigation skills. As we would both like to be run leaders this year.
We left Sonny's house and headed for Ashburton intending to try out a few of the lanes up on the moors. Sonny lead and I acted as TEC (ok they was only two of us)

202-045 was quickly found near the centre of Ashburton and was a bit of an easy lane still tarmaced in places, we quickly followed that with 202-043 with was another gentle lane. It was then onto 202-044 and we finished this lane by the river, which we shouldn't have done so we back-tracked and headed straight for 202-041 which is a great lane starting of deceptively easy and ending in a loose rocky decent, I managed to lose my brand new tail pack on this lane which gave me a great excuse to ride it in both directions again and recover my pack.
It was at this point Sonny noticed I had a puncture in my rear tire, but both being young Padawan's of Lord Fixer we were suitably equipped with tire spanners and spare tubes, Co2 cartridges, pumps etc etc and so one hour and one can of tire weld later ( no socket or rachet to remove the back wheeldisbeliefno) we continued our ride.
Sonny lead us stright to 202-042, which was quite heavy going as the topsoil was soaked through and I'm almost out of grip on the MT43 fitted at the rear. But otherwise a nice little lane. The next lane was the shortest on our route and ran between to roads in a Y shape 202-042 again found more or less straight away by Sonny.
It was then onto 191-096, which was quite heavy going again due to the saturated ground, although Sonny seemed to cruise up and then came back down the hill and paddled my bike up for me as well, cheers mate. It was on this lane so Pikey wearing a hair net tried to nick Sonnys bike but luckily I managed to scare them off. After some road work we bypassed 191-085 as time was moving on and we headed straight for 191-086 which was another cracking lane up on the moors with some great views.
We then hit the best lane of the day 191-084 with some great open views over the moors and some rocky descents and muudy ascents what a great lane it has everything. We then stopped in Widdencombe for some refreshments and hear and saw another group of riders (TJ and the South Devon lads) doing the lane in the opposite direction. It was then back down the A38 to Plymouth.
All in all a valuble trainig day with great lanes and god company, cheers

Well done Grasshopper, today you have learnt the art of divining the lanes and the more important lesson of taking the right tools with you...wink
