Once again the ugly face of capitalism has reared up and bitten me in the ankle - as all insurance companies are pond detritus they can't reach my bum! They wanted £451 to insure my RC8, Valkyrie and CCM404DS. I've spent the day shopping round and fielded so many return calls I can still hear bells. I've managed to find out that Insurance Bast**ds...sorry, companies...don't like Dual Sport machines and it's the CCM that's upsetting them. So far it's come down to £330 for the RC8 and Valkyrie fully comp and a seperate policy for the CCM where I would have zilch No Claims Bonus but only pay £52 Third Party Only. That's reduced the cost by £70+ so it's better. One company wanted me to pay £400+ for the RC8 alone....perhaps they've seen me riding it! Any ideas amongst you lot for reducing it further?

Andy, Have you tried Adrian Flux they were the most competitive for the 525 exc after spending the same sort of time ringing round, £234 fully comp new policy and no no-claims, Obviously that figure reflects my age!!!! they maybe worth a try. Barney
Hi Andy, yep had the same problem this year. Devitt who I've been with for years with Norwich Union Premier Bike for the KTM 990 and 450EXC-R refused to renew with no explanation. Went round in circles trying to renew with N-U directly over the Phone, but they refused to talk to me and told me to go to a Broker. When they wouldn't recommend a Broker to renew the policy I got a bit upset, they referred me to the FSA if I wasn't happy!!!
Anyway to cut a two day story short I got a quote from e-bike at £186 but I don't like internet dealing particularly so ended up with Carol Nash, who were extremely helpful, with would you believe it N-U. Even Carol Nash couldn't renew my current policy.
It turns out Devitt couldn't quote because they couldn't override their own computer to accept the EXC-R. I thought it was a problem with the EXC-R being a new model but it seems like its Trail bikes generally.
Andy you could try wickedquotes.com, I have the LC4 and the Husky on the same policy, with protected no-claims for the princley sum of £100 fully comp. they are underwritten by the NU, this was as good a deal as I could get.
Hi Andy, I use Adelaide Insurance based in Northern Ireland. They do special deals for IAM members so I don't know if it would be any good for you. They charge for the most expensive bike and then about £35 for any other bike. Never asked me any question when I added the XR 250. I pay £236 fully comp for 5 bikes. Good luck David
Many thanks to Rain Monkey for the heads up on Adelaide Insurance. They operate out of Belfast on a standard UK std number (02890330142) so it cost me nothing to ring them. They came back in 5 mins with a quote that beat everybody else and beat my original insurers - Ebikeinsurance - by £130.
One policy covering 3 bikes with different terms for each and cost me £321.
I'm a happy bunny and I owe Rain Monkey a drink for that...would you like your water with a tea bag in it? (P.S. The T bag's extra).
