KTM XCR-W 450

Thinking out loud here and please comment if wish , the nice man at Fowlers in Bristol has offered me £2800 for my K1 GSXR 600 (3700 mile minter) and what has tempted me is a rather nice XCR-W 450 , had a test ride and all is good.
Apparantly 50x of these bike were due to be sold in South Africa , but due to a problem they ended up at Fowlers in Bristol , the deal that has been offered is and OTR price of £4799 and will give me £2800 for the Suzuki.

I,m a heavy`ish rider 15stone in old money and 6`2"

i have done my research all all seems good , split engine and gearbox oil seems like a good idea , new cast rear swing arm etc etc

Any comments ?

The 450 is a very flighty beast but OK in the hands of a capable person. Is it road legal?
250cc is claimed to be the perfect size for green laning.

The XCR is used in the US for more open tracks where you can really let em rip.

The XCR makes a slightly different power to the EXC's, they have the MX top end with the EXC gearbox gearing, nice bike, but as Fixer said, there a tad feisty! i wouldn't dismiss it as a bike choice but equally wouldn't advise buying one!

I would however recommend the KTM 300EXC-E, an electric start 300 two stroke, ideal biggrin

I've got a 08 450 EXC-R and I love it. I've fitted a slower throttle tube which has made it nice and soft at the bottom end. My advice for what its worth would be to go for the new KTM 400 EXC which has a similar motor to mine but softer still, so should be a great bike.
As for an import from Fowlers???disbelief.gifdisbelief.gifdisbelief.gif
Talk to Rob at JDs Saltash.
