Hello to all , at long last i have bought my XR400R down to Totnes !
A brief summary about me, i have lived in Bristol most of my life and since school have worked in the safety industry breathing apparatus and gas detection equipment, i now work for Honeywell as a Gas Detection sales manager covering the south west great job and it allows me to do the occasional mid week ride, which is nice !
My brief riding history, i always had bikes from my teens to mid twenties mainly DT125's but ended up have a KDX 250 for 3 years before work took over my life. The return to riding was amazing , was on holiday in Eygpt with my other half and daughter 4 years ago and i was a bit bored , i had noticed that KTM had a off road school in Sharm where we were staying , so it was booked 2 days riding and camping in the dessert ! Never ridden on sand before it was tough but with expert guide/ instructor (ex Dakar rider) after a few hours practice on the moto x course and deep sand basin he was happy with my riding (on 200 exc) so me and one other guy from Cardiff were ready to go ! needless to say the following 48 hrs were totally amazing, 40 c heat and sand EVERYWHERE, the only time we saw anyone else was at our prearranged meeting points with support crew , all we had to carry was water and a snack , i was hooked by the end of day one camped over night in the middle of nowhere , rode for 9 hrs on day two and back to Sharm.
So returning to UK i got myself a XR250 and an Africa Twin XRV750 , really got into the big trials bike riding with the xr being used for lanes around Bristol & Bath.
My current bikes are XR400R ('03) AC10 rear, Comp Enduro front, Africa Twin XRV750 TKC's F&R ('98) and GSXR-600- K1 (minter & for sale)
I now spend 80% of my time living in Totnes the XR is in totnes the TWIN & GSX live in Bristol.
I have met Andy , Bob and Neil on the Africa Twin rally ride on 13th sept which was a great day enjoyed by all.
I got my XR down here a couple of weeks ago and have been out on her a few times around Totnes and Ashburton and i need more !
Sadly i could not make your ride out today and next weekend i have other commitments but i am due a weeks holiday from work so fingers crossed for a couple of weekday rides and after next weekend all should be good for most saturdays between now and xmas.
It is quite strange that Bonny, Rob and I were riding past the bit where Wheely dropped his Africa Twin into the washout today and I was showing them both where it happened. We also rode a new lane that joins that lane just North of the wahout.
We're looking at a mid-week ride shortly so keep an eye open on this forum.

I do know where I'm going, but the track it will decide, It's not the destination, It's the glory of the ride!
I'm not surrprised he suffered a bit but all credit to him he carried on regardless. Great to hear from you Simon and don't worry, there'll be some weekday rides coming up 'cos Fixer doesn't like work and i don't have any!!!
