WANTED, WANTED, WANTED. Phil, our foreign correspondent is back in Plymouth and is looking for a ride- out this week. He cannot make the weekend because of domestic commitments ( as you can well imagine after 7 months away). He doesn't need to go out for miles and miles BUT he doesn't really know the local lanes. Can anyone help?. He doesn't currently have internet access so please post your availability here and Sonny will get the details to him. Amusement is virtually guaranteed (he hasn't been on a bike for 7 months remember). Thank you. Bob.
Hi Bob, I can do Thursday morning if thats any good. My knowledge of the Devon lanes is a bit limited as yet but I could put a few together in east Cornwall if thats any use. Cheers, Neil.
I would think that a nice run around East Cornwall would suit him well. Phil's done the one's as far as Muchlarnick as well as St Mellion so he knows a bit about the area. Have fun.

Thanks fellas. I've just sent Sonny a text asking him to check out the Forum for your replies. It'll be great if both Adam and Neil can ride together with Phil, he'll learn a lot. Bob.

Hi All, Phil and I are meeting at the Spar/Texaco petrol station Carkeel roundabout 09:00 Thurs 9th Oct. Just an informal run around lanes between Looe/Liskeard, returning early afternoon. If anyone else is interested please post. I'm not an experienced leader so patience will be necessary. Cheers, Neil.
We'll ive just sent Phil on his way to meet up with Neil.(hope he knows what he's let himself in for)
The book is now open, let the betting begin.
EVENS Phil falls off more than 5 times. 5-1 Phil knocks Neil off. 10-1 Phils bike breaks down/puncture. 15-1 Neil fails to get Phil out of the garage shop selling pastys. 20-1 Phil gets ill after stopping to eat road kill. 100-1 They get lost and Phil eats Neil. 1,000,000-1 They stop in a pub for lunch and Phil offers to pay.
The recovery van and ambulance are both on stand-by
Could you please give meodds on Phil not falling off and actually showing Neil the way round. Please be aware that I'm feeling lucky today as nothings gone right so far!

Andy, having just heard all about his exploits today you will be very glad that i did not give you any odds. He fell off twice and his exact words were "Bloody hell he can ride for an old bloke!!.
At this present moment i would be willing to bet my soul with the devil that our little rotund sailor boy is fast asleep on his sofa and will probably wake up about 3 am as stiff as a board.
He did mutter something about going for a mountain bike ride tomorrow morning but as he walked down my driveway looking like John Wayne with terminal piles i doubt very much he'll be going.
TVTR's Entertainments Officer without a doubt. Who's going to second this motion???
Looks like you owe the devil your soul Sonny ole boy, nice to notice the Kwak was looking exceptionally clean this afternoon when it was out on the drive. Did you give it another wash and polish in the sun this afternoon.
TO INFINITY AND BEYOND well Cornwall and back anyway.
This isn't a ride report as such, because to be totally honest I am not sure exactly where we went or the lane numbers, I pretty much followed Neil around. Although he seemed to make it look a damn sight easy than me, unless he got himself one of those new KTM Hoverbikes(which I doubt)
A very good ride starting off near Trefule round about with a few easy lanes to gently break me in after seven months out of the saddle, with neil giving a quick rundown on what to expect at the start of each lane.
We then worked our way down one of the trickier lanes which brought us to the foot of Muchlarnik which we avoided like the plague, also avoiding one of the lanes which has recently been TRO'd.
After this I pretty much lost tack of where we where, needless to say some fine lanes were ridden, some planned and some not planned.
Finding ourselves over by the coast we dropped down through Polperro into Looe to get some fuel and lunch. We then headed back using some of the original lanes in reverse order and one which Neil had initially left out until I'd "warmed up a bit ".
The last few lanes were reconised from a ride out last year which I'd been on which was led by Fixer. Probably the hardest (most technical) lanes of the whole day. Very narrow and massively overgrown, these proved to be quite a challenge as I was tiring by this stage. With that in mind I bailed on the golf course lane and Neil led us back to the A38. Where he went home and I went to wash the bike and stow it until next week.
All in all a very enjoyable day, with the right number of lanes ridden at the right pace, with advice and help (pushing) when required. A great way to get back in the saddle after a long absence. Thanks to Bob for posting for me and A big thanks to Neil for leading today on a great ride Cheers mate
Hey, well done Phil, it seems you had a great time. Many thanks Neil for taking Phil around so that he can build up his stamina again. I hope that you enjoyed it too. I look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Bob.

As you well know the devil took my soul many years ago.
Yep, once i'd finished painting the garage, i gave the kwak some more tlc. Great believer in looking after my kit. You should try it some time.
I had a great time Bob. Good to meet you Phil and put a face to the name. Thanks for doing a ride report, I'll have to get the GPS sorted. It was good to be able to tackle some of the lanes I usually have to avoid when I'm out solo. I'm usually out for a ride on Monday and Thursday mornings and it would be great to have your company on those days if you're up for it. Cheers all, Neil.
Will give you a ring Sunday eve. if that's ok Neil, might even persuade Sonny to get his bike past the end of the drive for something other than a service or wash & polish. Cheers once again
