SatNav/GPS

I have just bought a Garmin Quest for use by the TVTR members. This will be hired out at a nominal fee (until paid for) to whoever wants to lead a ride of more than 2 people.

I can pre-load it with a route of infinite (nearly) length and I shall be arranging masterclasses for those that are interested in using it.

I will be ordering a handlebar mounting for it and it may be possible to make a powerlead that is easy to move from bike to bike.

The Garmin Quest is a very robust bit of kit and I shall be bringing it with me to the Social Meeting on the 16th.

As I already have a Quest it would be feasible for both to be in use on one day allowing rides to meet up???

Top idea Andy, very good of you to lay out the cash upfront. Would like to have a masterclass at some stage as I have an old garmin e map which is ok when vista/memory map recognizes it

I've ordered a RAM mount for the unit from GPS Warehouse which should get here tomorrow.
This will allow the unit to be quickly moved from one bike to another. I'm hesitating over powering it as that's another £30!

Andy, I'm not sure what you mean by powering it? Please invite me to a class on using the Quest. I've been driving down in Cornwall today and Patsy cannot read a Tourist map properly, let alone Ordnance survey

Don't think you can just come into Cornwall any ole time Bob. This forum is not a passport to paradise.
Anyway it's 'Pasty' not 'Patsy' In Cornwall.
