They wanted be to buy more expensive bearings but I said no no no (guess the tune).
I bought "budget wheel bearings from simply bearings despite their advice to go for better quality" Boy were they right and me wrong - I should have listened.
The cheap budget bearings have lasted less than 500 miles. That's not 500 miles of race pace- just gentle bimbling around the lanes. They dont make economic sense to me and also cost time in frequent changes.
Ive ordered the proper ones from them this time. Lets see if I can get more than 500 miles out of these babies.(made by NKE).
any similar experiences out there? Which bearings have you found to be the best?
Hi Mike, depends on the bike? I've only ever changed wheel bearings once and that was on my first KTM 400EXC at 3000 miles. I always take out the wheel spindles and grease the seals when the bike is new and about 100hrs thereafter. I would use KTM originals as they come as a kit with seals spacers etc, which all need replacing to ensure long life and they tend to "reasonably priced"
