Well it is with regret that I am having to sell my loved and cherised Yamaha WR450F.
Being a great fan of the WR models, this is my 3rd in a row - I started with a steel framed WR250F which was fantastic, before moving up to a steel framed WR450F. Eventually got the opportunity try an ally-framed model and the difference between that and my steel-framed was so awesome I purchased it right away. Main differences I found were smoothness of ride, improved turning and overall controllability, less chain slap and a lighter feel -- as well as looking much better with the ally frame with better front/rear lights. For those that dont know the WRs so well, you will find that of all the modern enduro-focussed bikes, the WRs are extremely tame when required (so brilliant for trail riding) as well as being mega reliable for something designed primarly for racing.
I've done everything necessary on this bike + more. Always changed oil for quality silkolene synthetic stuff every 500 miles (100 miles earlier than Yamaha recommends) & filter changed every other time. I have just (today) done a fresh oil change. Have 2 air filters so I could always keep a clean/oiled one installed in the bike (new owner can have the spare too). I have done a full lubrication service of headstock bearings and also recently a service of swingarm and linkage bearings (linkage bearings replaced, swing arm ones in good condition so re-lubed). Front & rear wheel bearings replaced recently too. Good tyres front and back (MT43 on rear and pirelli scorpion on front). Chain and sprockets both changed within last 3 months (before I ever thought I would be selling). Bike has always been lovingly cleaned and pro-cared after every run and I'm sure all those I ride with will tell you the bike always looks immaculate - at the start of a run. And as most of you know I've only ever used this bike for green laning and a few TRF fun days, as did the previous owner. The bike is also completely standard, hasnt had grey wire mod not any jetting done (as I think the power is perfect as it is -- but if you want more, its there for the taking )
Bike has recently had its first ever MOT which it flew thru with no advisories. Has long tax too.
Why I am I selling? Well my girlfriend of almost 3 years has convinced me to move house/area from Plymouth to Goodrington. I need to free up some cash for the move - so this is one area where I can get a bit of extra funds and reduce my overheads. I have recently managed to purchase an older 2T KTM200, so will still keep up my riding, just not on the WR any more. I'll put another post up of my new bike, so we keep this post/thread for info about this bike cheers.
I have trawled ebay and other classified and these ally-framed WRs arent readily easy to come by. Must be the owners just dont want to sell them once they have them!!
I am asking 3,200 for this bike - and for this I think you will have a bargain and one thats fully serviced/lubricated so you neednt worry about anything needing doing. Will keep it on this site and hopefully sell it locally. If not will put on ebay in a week or 2.
