Just the 4 of us for todays cracking ride, this time plotting a route to take me over the Dartmouth Ferry to Mansands - and back via Stoke Gabrial, all lanes I cannot remember ever doing before - and all excellent, with mud mud mud being the flavour of the day. Things started off pretty cold after an icey night. Mike had come across from Tavi and reported several car RTAs from the ice!! So with due care at the forethought of our minds off we set. On the whole the back roads were not too bad, and the puddles in the lanes did occasionally have a light icing over their surface. However a rather shiney road coming out of Wheeldon caught Geoff slightly unware and his bike spun round in a circle and went down ever so gently. Devil Steps was tackled by the 4 of us without any real bother (I didnt win any style points though!!!). Was then great to get in a few new lanes (incl 202-155/156 which we normally get close to, but havent done before). We also didnt cross the river at Bow Bridge as the water was well deep. And then it was off to Dartmouth, across the ferry and off to mansands where we took in those 2 excellent lanes. Then across to Stoke Gabriel where the mud was awesome. By Totnes we were all pretty knackered so it was roadwork back to the big city. Fabulous days riding in excellent company. Geoff should have some great vids to come.
Indeed a cracking days riding but boy am I feelin' it now!! We're well out of practice!!
Having used the jetwash at Ivybridge there was still plenty of claggy red mud plastered on my bike so it got another hours cleaning when I got home. Maybe that's why I'm so knackered?
