Just got back from an awesome weekend trail riding around the foot of Snowdonia in mid Wales! God's country for trail and road riding! Took me and Bonnie an epic 8 1/2 hours to get there thanks to the West country holidaymakers clogging up the M5 on Friday but all worth it when we got into wonderful (chucking it down with rain) Wales!
Saturday (Jenny (leading), me, Bonnie, Lyn, Sue, Simon and Charles ) 8 hours riding slippery rocky mountain tracks, copious amounts of Welsh water, thigh high river crossings and ruts ruts ruts, absolutely soaked to the skin and excellent fun!
Great evening in the local community centre with hot food and like minded company as we listened to Tamsin Jones presentation on her incredible Dakar feat followed by a glorious 6 hour sunny, yes sunny! days trail riding on Sunday (Jenny (leading), me, Bonnie, Lyn, Sue, Clare ) all sorts of terrain:- overgrown old fern tracks (beautifully soft to land in), mentalist slippy rocky downhills (not so beautiful to land on) and fantastic long flowing mountain tracks with take your breath away scenery (all with plentiful Welsh water).
All the girls and bikes returned home safely, a few carb issues for Sue when her WR went shiny side down in a 3 foot deep puddle but all bikes in one piece with no major probs!
Fantastic weekend, thanks to Marianne for organising, Jenny for choosing a perfect route and being an excellent run leader and to Liz, who led some of the other girls out over the weekend. Cant wait to do it all again!
Bonnie has some more photos (which Ill post later on), heres a couple of mobile phone photos which really dont do this spectacular scenery justice at all.
..........more links to photos for Bonnie whose steam powered laptop has just found the link to this post
Me and Bonnie would love to oblige - but if I told you that I rang Stuart from a red phone box on the main road somewhere in mid Wales at 10:30pm Friday night to let him know we were about 6 miles away from our digs.. then 16 miles and ¾ hour later we arrived at said digs which happened to be adjoined to the said red phone box we'd past 16 milesand ¾ hour ago, would you seriously trust us off road ?

Impressed Karrie, if you were still keen at 10:30 to get another 16miles of lanes in rather than go to the pub ..... sounds like you girls could teach us boys a thing or two.
