A pain in the butt

The seat on my bike is very firm and narrow with a pointed profile.  It doesnt support but rather disappears northward and puts a lot of pressure on the coccyx.
(translates as its a pain in the a**se)

I am thinking of re -profiling the seat by trimming the existing foam and by adding some memory foam.

This should give me a flatter and softer seat.  Has anyone out there tried this?
Do you know of a source for soft seat foam ? Where can you get hold of staples that dont rust to resecure the seat cover?

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mikey Mike

I cant help you personally but I know RichT4 on DTRF has added extra padding on his DRZ400 (not the uncomfiest tank out there, but I guess he wanted it comfier).

Here's a link to his thread but looks like he's removed his pics on photobucket -- you could always PM him, he's a friendly helpful bloke.

Failing that eat loads of MaccyDs and doughnuts, do little and become a lard-arse -- then you'll have your own padding smile

Hope ya well - and join us for a ride soon (might be going out bank hol Monday)

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mike

I have a heavy duty stapler and staples. While it calls itself heavy duty it is actually more medium duty and sometimes takes a couple of goes with ackward angles. I used to recover a DR125 saddle which is still holding and you are most welcome to borrow if you like. Based Plymouth. PM if you need it.

Cheers, Ben

had the seat done on the crf250x, was also pointed and uncomfortable, took it to an car trimmers in ivybridge where a mate had his ladies bike seat sculluped? cause she was short, but doing the same to mine it made it wider, but the foam they put in pads the seat out so it looks normal, cost £20 , its the little ind est in the centre of ivybridge next to the esso garage? , first building in on the right i think ( sorry cannot remember the name) , used the original seat cover, just re stapled it, good job for 20 quid, kev
