Inquiry. Any body interested?

Hello TVTR.

I have just spoke to Bob Turner via the mobile phone number shown on the Devon TRF website.

I am looking for a few days trail riding in the South-west. I can travel down with transit van, camp and stay as long as there is a guide to show me the lanes in as many areas as possible.

If you are able to assist me with my quest, this will be much appreciated.

In return, I have extensive knowledge of the North Wales, and I can lead a group of you people on a weekends ride.

Regards.

Neil 'Timpo' Thompson.

If anybody interested get back to me and I will give you his contact.  David

It would be easier if you could reply to him and ask him to log in to this Forum.

When is he coming to Devon?

Thanks David.

Yes, I've arranged to lead Timpo on Sat 15th August, so anyone want to join us? We'll be on an all- dayer starting at Roborough, riding mostly West Devon but just 'dipping' into East Cornwall for  a few lanes before lunch.

Barney, are you able to lead on the Sunday?. Timpo's up for a quick one with your monster lanes thrown in.

Bob

OK Tibby.
I travel down to Devon area on the 13th August, so a ride on Friday 14th with you will be great, then I have a Saturday 15th with Capt Slow.
Am i correct in thinking that the Plume Of Feathers Inn is close-by to where the rides will start from? http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/plume
If not, can you give me detail of where the rendez-vous will be, and I will find a campsite/layby close by for my transit van to stay at.
Thanks.
Timpo.

Hi Neil,

I am sure someone will come and meet you at the plume and make sure you get to the rendezvous on time. I would certianly offer for the Saturday ride anyhow.

Where about's are you from in north Wales? I going on a midweek adventure trip to Plas Y Brenin, Capel Curig in September and would happily take my bike if I could find a guide for a day.

Chris

Timpo,

The Plume is going to put uneccessary miles on you. When the Wiltshire TRF group came down to play with us they stayed at Langstone Manor, just outside Tavistock, which has bar, restaurant etc. They said it was good.

http://www.langstone-manor.co.uk/

If you want something more basic give me a call and we'll find one for you.

So, a frantic one with Barney on the Friday, then a relaxed one with me on the Saturday- great, it's taking shape.

BTW, the Calstock Bike Show is the week before, shamecry.

Bob

OK Bob, so far it's looking real good:-

August itinerary so far looks like this:-
Thurs 13th - Travel down to Devon, find campsite.
Fri 14th - Ride with Tibby (Barney).
Sat 15th - Ride with Captain Slow (Bob).
Sun 16th - Ride with Tornjacket, South Devon.
Mon 17th - No offer as yet.
Tues 18th - No offer as yet.

As for accommodation, I have a transit van which I can live out of, ie, bed, heater, water, cooker, etc, so a campsite or at a push lay-by is usually enough.
If I can get rendez-vous points sorted, I'll make sure to find places to stay to cut bike road milegae to minimum.....

Thanks again for all the help....

Timpo.

Timpo,

There's a small basic campsite just over the road from me. They have shower and Loos etc and there's a pub only 5 mins (walk) away which does food. The owner has two trials bikes, so it's biker friendly!

I don't know Tibby's planned route but he lives only 10 minutes away so it should be convenient for both our rides. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you the prices.

OK Bob, I'm booked in at The Old Rectory campsite, 13th and 14th, possibly more if that is a good location for any other rides that may materialise.
I take it that tghe local pub is The harest Home towards Lumburn? biggrin

I'll be needing times at start point locations please.

Timpo

Timpo, you're right, The Harvest Home is the nearest pub.

We'll be leaving Gulworthy at 8.30- 8.45' ish on the Saturday morning to ride to the start in Plymouth, for 9.15. You will be literally just across the road, so we could ride over together if you wish.

If you fancy one beer on the Thursday night, (or maybe two), give me a ring beforehand so's I can sweeten her indoors.

Bob

OK Tibby, near the railway station for 0830, great stuff. I will ride all day, so whatever the masses do, I do, no problem.
At present I am alone on this trip, but future exchanges will be a group affair.
The week is looking real good now..... I'm really looking forward to it.

Right, I'm off into mid-Wales now to do a couple of lanes...... back home tomorrow night.

Timpo.
