Need to get used to looking at it instead of making assumtions resulting in you beeping at me! After you guys left for home I went a bit solo for a while! through unmarked then 658, 645, 643, 646, 644, 645, past 642 (cause I didn't know it was there), Spyed 717 as I flew by the top and thought "ah I will check the legality when I get home", got to inlaws to find wife not there, so down to the beech at the bottom of the valley for a rest.
Whilst sat pondering the days achievments, lookin at the map, sussed 717 is a legal lane so off I went to find the bottom of it (knowing the gradeient of the hillside I was chuckling in my helmet) wow what a lane, I went up and back down laughing all the way! It was as slipery as, with a zig-zaging gully waist deep in places down the lower section, the 4x4 crowd have been there cutting branches in to short pieces and trying to fill the gully, no damage to my bike but a mine field for a wheel of the spoked variety.
Then down to garage in looe to find pressure washer, but top no avail! Don't want to arrive at inlaws too early do we! So on way back couldn't miss the oppertunity to give the 717 climb another go. Not one for the newbie unless you don't want to see them again! A really good end to a day that the weather cut short for the group, it cleared for my solo activity's late afternoon.
What fixer didn't say about the second to last photo in the run report, was that I was flying or at least it looks like that in the picture!
Thanks guys for the day most enjoyable. also the banter whilst playing with the innertube!
Sorry to have missed this one...I satisfied myself with admiring my new chain instead of riding and now reading the report. Won't be out this weekend either I'm afraid, but will be there for the 'big one'. How did you get on with the Garmin Barney? I struggled with it in the car the other day..it tried to take me via Newquay on a Redruth to St Merryn (Padstow) jaunt. I think I had it set on 'shortest' rather than 'quickest', but even so..I can't believe that is shortest route..
Very similar to those taken on the "Slithering around the South Hams" run on the 21st Feb.
You could even take some of the comments under the photos from that run and tx them onto yesterdays run.
Bit like this:-
"Andy, sat down at the back of his bike but desperately leaning forward to keep the front wheel down. "
"The oft repeated phrase springs to mind, STAND UP ANDY!!"
Funny old world sometimes!!
Glad you all had a good time down in C'wall. Myself and Phil went East of the County for a play yesterday and had a brilliant day. Nice for abit of a change. Gary should be doing a ride report on the DTRF site later on.
Hopefully the shot of a very very wet Phil will come out. (should have gone left but decided right. Some people just don't listen!!?)
Bob, The Garmin, it was "fixed" for me to the right set up, but the nudgeing to turn the right way from the second navi (behind me) was very useful. I rekon next time I lead it will be only with 2 others as its easy to turn when going wrong! Its just time to get head round how it works!
As youquite rightly say Sonny, if I'd been stood up then perhaps I would have made it cleanly. I did stand up after I fell down as that was the easiest and quickest way back to my bike.

Great ride Barney / Andy. If you want to practice mid week Barney I'm usually available on Monday or Thursday mornings and would be happy to follow you round a route, just remember I'm about to draw my pension
Cheers neil treading careful at the moment stepping back for april and some of may to try and get our cottage finished but if i can get out I will shout, thanks again.
Andy says he's sat in a hole in pic above, I rekon he's just legless!
Great day out. The last very little hill through the woods that I fell off 4 times trying to get up really knacked me. Thanks to Barney, Andy and Neil for pushing me up! Very undignified. Think it must be all the effort to make it rain that really takes it out of me. Rain monkey David
