I've been itching to get out on my bike for some time now, finally feeling fit enough to try out a few lanes i put a route together and headed out.
First up was 201 - 044, the tide was out but the water was coming across the Ford pretty quick which made for some interesting side ways action as the back end of my bike kept washing out, made it across Ok then headed up the stoney section, no problems there either.
Next up was the estuary 201 - 046 which was fun then 201 - 043 & 201 - 042 both dusted off with no problems then on to 201 - 063. With a few lanes out the way it was time to stop off at the garage in Gunnislake for a quick bite to eat and a map read.
On to Route 188 then Route 72 both fairly uneventful but, this is the start of when things went a bit wrong. With all the lanes I'd ridden and feeling Ok i thought i would give Morden a bash, oh dear, i was doing so well! I stopped at the bottom of Morden and contemplated wether i was actually going to give it a go or not, i did and it was an interesting experience.
Not having ridden for nearly 6 months i was well out of shape, i found that out on the first 20 meter's. Making things worse was my rear tube valve, it wouldn't undo so i was stuck at 20 psi, i struggled on for about 35 minutes making it nearly to the top, at this point almost about to collapse from exhaustion i turned around and made my way back down, very disappointed and feeling like I'd just run a marathon i headed for Route 72 then Route 68, i had to turn around here too as they were laying a new road, so i headed to the farmers field ( this isn't marked on my map but is a legal track ending at Smeaton Farm ). I rode this some time ago with Fixer.
My main reason for riding this area is that i wanted to memorize the patch work of b roads so i could link Route 68 to Route 67 easily when leading a run, that kind of went wrong as i rode around ( with map ) for 15 minutes only to find myself at the wrong end of Route 68 heading North to Blunts, i really have to sort my navigational skills out! Route 68 is as always a pleasure to ride, even better than last time i rode it thanks to those whom recently did a bit of lane clearing.
Route 68 was the last lane i rode, i headed towards Blunts on to Landrake and made my way home to Plymouth. I really enjoyed the lanes i rode today, it was awesome to be out again, a few more solo rides to aquatint myself with the roads in that area and i'll have it cracked.
Well done Adam, I'm so pleased you're well enough to be back out on your bike. I hope there's no ill- effects after your exertions. Don't feel you have to keep going out on your own, get your name down for Fixer's ride on Saturday and go home when you've had enough. Chris will only be doing the half day anyway. Are the photos taken on your 'phone?. They're very good. Bob
Good to see you out and about again Adam. Just go steady when you're out on your own. Don't want you having an accident with no-one else around to help.
Hopefully catch up with you again sometime soon oppo.
Twas nice to be out, although my wrists now feel like they've been run over by a landrover, best give it a week or two more before i go out again lol you gotta laugh
Your right about going out on solo runs, it is a bit dodgy being on your own, it went through my mind a few times attempting that bloody hill, i also forgot my body armour and knee pads too, which made me more cautious
